. Al Ringgenberg, along with several members of the Rincon Optimist Club, founded the Iron Eagles in June, 1998, as part of the Southern Arizona Junior Golf Association. The first event was an “Open” tournament at the 49ers Country Club in which 22 kids participated. The Iron Eagles, with it’s first seven members, began regular tournament play shortly thereafter and held several more events at courses throughout southern Arizona. Al continued as Director for several years and then as treasurer and membership chairman. He continues to serve as membership chairman and Director Emeritus and is one of the most dependable and loyal volunteers. The Al Ringgenberg Trophy is dedicated to Al’s outstanding contributions to junior golf and is awarded to the top male golfer in each of the competitive divisions.
