Joan was a long-standing member of the Tucson Roadrunners Golf Association and served two years as their President. The Roadrunner’s mission is to promote Women’s and Girls’ golf in the Tucson area.
In 1995, six community individuals, including Joan, set out to form a developmental junior golf program. The end product was the establishment of the Southern Arizona Junior Golf Association. Joan initially served as secretary for two years and then as president for the next four. The first group to begin play under the Southern Arizona Junior Golf Association banner was a developmental program for girls called the Roadrunners.
The Joan Booth Trophy is dedicated to Joan’s outstanding contributions to junior golf and is awarded to the top female golfer in each of the competitive divisions.
