Age 6 - 8 (not a "competative" division)
New Golfers: attend SAJGA practices, receive instruction in rules and etiquette, and are given a basic introduction to course play. They play 3 to 4 hole tournaments from SAJGA tee markers (approximately 70-150 yards). Application of rules, etiquette, and scoring is incorporated into the learning.
Age 9 - 10Flight AGolfers play 6 to 9 hole tournaments (depending upon course being played) from tee markers (approximately 90-250 yards). Application of rules, etiquette, and scoring is continued. Flight BGolfers play 3 to 6 hole tournaments (depending upon course being played) from tee markers (approximately 90-175 yards). Application of rules, etiquette, and scoring is continued. Age 11 - 12Flight AGolfers play 9 to 18 hole tournaments (depending upon course being played) from tee markers (approximately 2200 to 2600 yards for 9 holes) Rules and etiquette appropriate to this level are applied. Flight BGolfers play 6 to 9 hole tournaments (depending upon course being played) from tee markers (approximately 100-350 yards). Application of rules, etiquette, and scoring is continued. Age 13 -14Flight AGolfers play 18 hole tournaments (depending upon course being played) from the course front tee markers. Rules and etiquette appropriate to this level are applied. Flight BGolfers play 9 to 18 hole tournaments (depending upon course being played) from the course front tee markers or from SAJGA tee markers approximately 100 - 350 yards). Rules and etiquette appropriate to this level are applied. Age 15 - 18Golfers play 18 hole tournaments from tee markers (approximately 5200 to 5800 yards). Players should be aware of proper rules and etiquette, and are expected to play and score accordingly. Championship FlightGolfers play 18 hole tournaments from tee markers (approximately 6600 to 7000 yards for boys, and 5200 to 5800 yards for girls). Players should score no higher than 95 for 18 holes, from these distances, on an average basis. Players should be aware of proper rules and etiquette, and are expected to play and score accordingly. MentorsMembers in good standing, that turn 16 years of age, may be offered the opportunity to continue membership as mentors. They will participate in SAJGA events and be called upon to aid the director, PGA staff or chaperone younger members. |
